Crafted from hand-hewn French walnut by rural artisans whose intent was to create a product that would last for generations, this vaisselier is a variation on the classic enfilade in that it adds a multi-tiered plate rack above while still retaining the vast majority of the serving surface of the buffet below. Artfully scrolled door frameworks with corresponding chamfered panels indicate the level of skill held by these so-called "country craftsmen", with pegged mortise & tenon joinery ensuring centuries of enjoyment. The simply scrolled apron above contrasts with the straight base molding of the buffet, and is adorned with a simple shell carving to allow emphasis on the items being displayed while standing guard over a family's prized possessions for decade after decade after decade!
