This chandelier, hand-forged by talented blacksmiths during the 18th century, was so exceptionally well preserved that we felt it best to leave it as it was originally found. The hand-forged arms mount into tabs on the weighted central body, and can therefore be removed to make it easier to remove excess wax, then popped right back in place in an instant when night falls. Very desirable during the time period, as iron was not flammable, proud owners could light candles and let them burn all the way down without fear of starting a fire, which was a huge concern during the 18th century before mechanized fire departments and portable extinguishers!
