What began in the Middle Ages as simple pewter vessels designed to protect one's lager from an errant fly developed into a more stylish version over the course of time, as is usually the case. This example features an elaborate pattern on the lid, with a figured spur so that a patron could flip open the lid with the thumb and take a sip, all with one hand. Hand crafted over 200 years ago.
