Crafted by master artisans of the Black Forest region along the Franco-Prussian border, this crucifix takes on a shrine-like appearance thanks to the elaborate hand-carved framework depicting dogwood branches, fully laden grapevines, and a striking corpus set upon a bas-relief cross. Such works were invariably donated to the church by its talented parishioners, then as time continues its relentless march, become available again as the church walls crumble.
