Location: Dallas

Always a delight to behold, objects from the Black Forest region along the Franco/Prussian border are famous for their naturalistic expression, rendering fine wood into objects that look like they were just drawn from the forest. This example is a square "lamp" table that has four leaves, all of which are carved to match the top, that open to create a four leaf clover. Gnarled branches appear to form the central shaft and four legs, typical of the genre.
Circa 1860s.
Measures 29.5 x 16.5 x 16.5; opens to 29.5 x 29.5.
