This impressive triple bibliotheque naturally caught our eye with its majestic presence, but we were totally hooked when we discovered its amazing library-style lower interior. Sculpted from dense, old-growth French white oak to last for centuries, its boldly molded crown follows the contours of the center step-front design, with Renaissance-inspired carvings on the crown and two center stiles. Barley twist corner posts frame the upper tier which is open and free from doors, boasts adjustable shelving. The lower door panels are works of art with exquisitely sculpted symbols of knowledge, worldly travel and culture, framed by fierce lion's heads in full relief surrounded by glorious scrollwork. The doors open to reveal a complete drawer system perfect for keeping everything in its place. Bold molding completes the look.
Circa 1840s.
