This simple yet elegant birdcage was made from brass and features a wooden finial on top to hold the ring by which it was hung. Removable tray helped with cleaning, and the access door slides up on the brass rungs of the cage rather than opening like a door, yet another ingenious aspect. Birdcages such as this were considered somewhat exotic estravagances and therefore relegated to those who could afford such affectations.
