Sculpted by the master artisans of Brittany, this charming two-tiered cabinet was designed to store food, with artistic piercings in the cabinet doors designed to allow fresh air flow, believed at the time to promote health. Spindles are used in abundance in this region to depict both wagon wheels and ship's steering wheels, both of which were in abundance in the region for centuries. The remaining carvings celebrate the beautiful flora of the countryside. Note the quatrefoil form created by the handiwork on the lower cabinet, a timeless symbol of the four points on the cross!
