Crafted from indigenous old-growth French white oak, the same wood from which wine barrels were made by the cooper, this buffet was commissioned by a prosperous vintner in the region bordering Brittany and Normandie, where lush, fertile fields continue to produce an amazing variety of fruits, vegetables and furniture woods. Lavishly carved with fully laden grapevines and birds partaking of the harvest, it features interesting detail in the framework as well. Forged iron hinges below contrast with the cast brass pendant drawer pulls. Note the circular cutouts on the interior shelves to accommodate large bonne bonnes! Truly a remarkable work of art that is more than just unique!
