(Click the Item No. for an inquiry)51.5 x 62 x 30; surface 34 high

Location : Dallas

Indispensable to the butcher in days gone by, tables like this example were built to take incredible daily abuse, and the ones that were not used much have a wonderful state of preservation, as in the case with this exceptional Napoleon III period example. Rendered from massive blocks and planks of solid maple which can be as hard or harder than the beloved white oak, this example features two big drawers for meat cleavers, knives and other implements of the trade, accessed with big brass rings because the butcher usually wore protective gloves. Decorative backsplash was usually a pride-of-ownership affair, and this one depicts a boar's head with chef's hat!
Circa 1860s.
