Crafted on a grand scale from the preferred medium of the French artisans of Normandie, this spectacular vaisselier soars to almost 9' tall, and features a cased clock as its visual centerpiece! A classic chapeau de gendarme cornice above the clock case is mirrored by the glazed opening through which one can read the dial face, which has been hand-painted with roman numerals on porcelain with the name of the maker, Janvier Laine of St. Claude. {Note the continuity of the original brass door and drawer hardware!) A molded, scrolled and carved cornice rests atop the open display section, fitted with carved shelf facings and centered with the pendulum casement, which has been adorned with a scrolled framework around the chamfered panel, accented with a single rose, and topped with a full relief sculpture of a flower basket! Not to be outdone, the buffet below not only provides cavernous storage, it features complementary carved motifs, engraved brass eskutcheon guards, wonderful drawer pulls with pierced guards, and brass hinges. Scrolled apron below features a very unusual stylized cornucopia with chrysanthemum, obviously at the bequest of the one who commissioned this work.
