Antique Dutch Barometer/Thermometer
2108-19307
(Click the Item No. for an inquiry)27 x 12 x 2

Location : Dallas

Decades before 24-hour weather stations on cable TV, folks were obliged to use their own common sense, observation, and of course if possible, the services of handy devices such as this, which indicated increasing or decreasing barometric pressure and temperature, two key indicators that remain important to this day. This example, with still operable instruments, has been set on a framework of beautifully hand-carved French walnut, styled in the manner of the Baroque and Renaissance that were melded during the Second Empire as a result of the worldly influences propounded by Napoleon III.
Circa 1870.
Measures 27 x 12 x 2.
