Crafted from select French walnut by talented Lyonais artisans, the understated elegance of this Empire period commode, crafted during the reign of Napoleon Bonaparte, reveals the subtle ancient Egyptian influence in the cast bronze capital and base of the columns that flank the three spacious drawers. Solid plank top presides over the concealed upper drawer. Pegged mortise & tenon joints can be seen from the side. Discovered in the same home as the petit vitrine below at left.
