The arborous Black Forest region of Southwest Germany is known for its meticulous woodland inspired carvings. A fine illustration of the style, this exuberant example teems with poultry, superbly executed to communicate a strong sense of animation and movement. Elevated sophistication of the woodcarver is evidenced by the astoundingly detailed, individual feathers and digits of the fauna, while the cobalt blue enameled Roman numerals create a striking contrast.
As is the case with all our clocks, we have had them professionally cleaned and put in working order!
