The bombe commode has remained a staple of formal decors for over two centuries, and this example, with its undulating casework, fine marquetry inlay from exotic woods, superlative bronze ormolu mounts and contoured & bevelled marble top, makes it easy to see why. No less than four master artisans were required to produce this work, a monumental effort by today's mass-produced standards!
