This intriguing table lamp started out as a samovar or coffee urn, carefully hand-crafted in the latter half of the 19th century from solid copper and cast brass. Such samovars kept the tea or coffee inside warm via the placement of a separate, usually tin, insert that held hot coals fresh from the fireplace. Turned wooden handles on each side, mounted with cast brass supports, insulated one's hand from the hot urn when serving. Painstakingly converted to an electric lamp by our clever in-house professional staff, wired to UL standards, and fitted with a lovely hand-sewn silk shade affixed with an original sunflower blossom finial.
