Hand crafted from old-growth French pine, this exquisite Gothic style pulpit and staircase adds intriguing Old World charm to any dcor! Stealing the show, the pulpit itself has been adorned with beautifully carved panels boasting astoundingly detailed figures, meant to represent the Four Evangelists, within trefoil arched niches. The authors of the four gospels of the New Testament, the figures are identifiable by the scrolls they bear and their symbols. Matthew is symbolized by a man, to represent the human nature of Christ, while Mark is symbolized by a lion, to represent Christ as king. Symbolized by a bull or a calf, Luke’s sign is meant to represent Christ as sacrifice and as priest, while John is symbolized by an eagle, to represent the Christ as God. Superior craftsmanship is evident in the astoundingly complex folds of the diaphanous drapery, detailed hair and contemplative stares of the figures. Truly a work of art!
