This striking crucifix was crafted from fine, mahogany and then bordered with an exquisite cast bronze dore foliate trim. Its features include a lovely anthemion finial, scrolled acanthus leaves and delightful floret branches. Creating handsome chevron patterns, the beautifully grained mahogany creates the perfect backdrop for the contrasting ivory figure of Christ. Superbly carved, meticulous attention to detail is evident in the folds of Christ’s loin cloth, finely rendered hair and defined musculature.
