Originally a matched pair of wall beds, our master millworkers and expert finishers have succeeded in converting the pair into a king size bed, ready to accommodate the king and queen in your family! Crafted from solid, exotic imported mahogany, the simple lines were a hallmark of the Louis Philippe reign, still reeling from the French Revolution and mindful of the fate of Louis XVI and his Queen. Heraldic crests carved from solid blocks of the precious wood top the arched crowns, flanked by turned finials which also are repeated on the footboard cornerpost tops. Large rosettes adorn the footboard, surrounded by simplistic molding, while bun feet provide support below. The architectural elements of the original rails have been retained, most notable where they attach to the headboards for a superlative Old World effect! Circa 1840's
