Classical Roman architecture has been revived in this striking antique Renaissancebuffet a deux corps, hand-crafted from fine French oak. Providing a stage-like exhibition, the architectonic superstructure features a back with display shelves encased in finely detailed arcades supported by fluted columns. Concealed storage is provided below, with two drawers over cabinets, remarkably carved with drapery swags, foliates and masks. Sculptural caryatid stiles add to the grandeur, while a finely molded plinth and simple bun feet provide support. The carvings on this French buffet reflect the devotion of Renaissance revival artisans for elements of classic Greco-Roman designs.
