Boasting abundant symbolism, this Antique French Louis XVI Gilded Mirror features its original silvering on beveled glazing. A playful cherub frolics amongst the floral and foliates, punctuated by the classic torchere and carquois de fleche, symbolizing the power and longevity of the royal family. Urns bursting with flowers appear as finials in deference to Marie Antoinette, with Louis XVI symbolized by the regal lion's heads just below. Cascading floral and foliates continue around the entire frame for a spectacular effect.
Circa 1870s.
