Beautifully grained, select French walnut was employed to create this breath-taking vaisselier, which delights the eye with its sumptuously carved surface! The stunning crown is created by elaborately pierced tracery of trefoils, cusps, tendrils and Gothic style interlace, while coordinating motifs embellish the intricate canopy, punctuated by flying angel pendant drops. Dating from the 16th century, each unique, exquisitely rendered panel has been salvaged to incorporate into the 19th century casework and depicts intricate tracery of quintessentially Gothic decorative motifs, including Moorish, lancet and flamboyant arches, lozenges, tear drops, medallions, rosettes, pentacles, tendrils, trefoils and quatrefoils and tormented naturalistic motifs. Interposed with twisted foliate pendant drops, pierced galleries adorning the upper register allow for the display of your finest, while the cabinets of the lower register provide generous concealed storage. Their ornamentation includes coordinating tracery, linenfolds, twisted columns with pinnacle capitals and the original 19th century strap hinges and escutcheons.
Sturdy bracket feet provide durable support.
Casework circa 1860, panels circa 16th century.
