Only rarely do we discover superlative examples of the Henri II style, so imagine our pleasure when we found this and its sister piece (which appears in a separate entry)! Crafted by master artisans from select French walnut, it exudes elegance from the intricately carved backsplash to the bold bun feet below. Carved bas relief depicting the bounty of the earth cascades down the pilasters and cornerposts, topped with corbels that flank the drawers. Exceptional molded detail defines the elements of the piece, and is enhanced by classical carvings, including gryffins on the edges of the backsplash. A glazed display center with subtle step front adds a nice visual effect. Elaborately hand-cast bronze pulls and keyguards complete the package!
