The theme of music has been captured with the motifs of the horn and guitar rendered inside a laurel wreath with ribbon and flowers, creating a superlative crown for this mirror, all rendered from solid hand-carved wood, and exhibiting its original gilt finish. Spiral ribbon and beaded molding around the mirror proper are accentuated by laurels and acanthus rosettes on each corner. Original footed base was designed to elevate the mirror above the mantel or buffet for better reflecting ability. Old glass exhibits signs of aging, but may not be the original, and has been re-coated on the back to preserve its state for the enjoyment by future generations.
