Crafted from exotic imported mahogany, with the flame patterns of the specially selected cuts found where the branch meets the trunk in the so-called "crotch", this commode is a definitive example of the Louis Philippe style, where the sheer natural beauty of the wood was emphasized, and carved detailing eschewed. Cast brass shield-shaped keyguards are the only other adornment, unless of course you consider the original "sandwich" marble top!
