Rural artisans of 18th and 19th century France tended to follow the style lead by the reigning monarch and therefore the styles generated out of Paris and Lyon. This example, crafted from hand-selected old-growth white oak, features the ministrations from an obviously talented and skilled wood sculptor, with floral and foliate motifs delicately carved into the actual drawer facade~ not applied. Cast brass pulls and keyguards complete the look. Note the solid plank backing.
