During most of the 19th century Europeans clamored for things Oriental, especially the fine porcelains were in vogue. This antique Rose Medallion porcelain platter, which probably arrived on the Continent via sailing ship, was hand-painted with colorful raised design and glazed to retain its vivid coloration so that it could adorn a stately home for generation after generation!
