Pair of Swedish neoclassical oils on board depict two idyllic views of pastoral scenes complete with human and four-legged subjects. Such works glorified the rural lifestyle and were popular with big city-dwellers who longed to get away from the hustle and bustle of what they then considered busy cities. Even today one can easily relate to and envy the fisherman in the middle of the river.
