Beautifully detailed pair of Imari vases was crafted in the Orient for a well-to-do European market. Brightly colored and highly decorative, they boast enamel colors over underglazes of rich navy and iron red, beautifully emphasized by intense gold hues. Alternating bands of lozenge patterns and cherry blossoms adorn the lids and upper bodies, while the lower sections boast brilliant floral sprays. Foo dog finials add to the chinoiserie impression, completing the look.
