Utilizing only the finest French walnut, the master artisans of Lyon created this superlative antique French Renaissance bed during the Second Empire, and lavished it with an architecture and embellishment that combine several elements of historic French developments in design. The heraldic crest creates a majestic crown, flanked by two bold turned finials atop the full-length, multi-tiered turned columns that rest on a pyramidal plinth block below graced with flared base molding and bun feet. The footboard duplicates the headboard's architecture, and adds a pair of concentric circles carved in relief, with a bold lion's head below. Bas relief carvings complete the look.
