Antique Renaissance Oil Lantern Table Lamp
2003-01250
(Click the Item No. for an inquiry)29 x 14 in diameter

Location : Baton Rouge

What started out as a bronze and brass oil lantern, intricately cast in the Renaissance style, has now become an elegant Old World table lamp, rewired to UL Standards by our expert in-house staff. The barley-twist shaft supports the embossed reservoir which originally held the mantel and a glass above to protect the flame. The flared, weighted base has been lavished with reposse work to match the reservoir above, and provides an elegant platform. Oil lamps are one of the most ancient sources of interior illumination, some examples being known to have been used around 7,000 BC. A hand-sewn silk shade completes the look!
Circa 1860s.
