Crafted exclusively from dense, old-growth French white oak, this library desk was set near the bookshelves to allow a researcher to obtain several volumes, temporarily store them, and review them one or more at a time. Exquisite full relief carvings down the corner posts and across the full-width drawer facade combine with the finely carved molding above and below to create visual excellence. The drawer is not alone in affording a place to keep stationery and the like ~ the slant-front reading surface opens to reveal even more storage.
