Considered by many to be the most talented of the Moreau family of sculptors, Mathurin has in this work depicted the Greek goddess Diana attended by a cherub, dressed in amazingly realistic robes and holding a horn in one hand with a hunting trophy in the other. Cast in spelter and given a two-toned patinaed bronze finish, it is a remarkable work.
