Produced to be presented as a wedding gift to a very fortunate couple, this exceptionally well-preserved jardiniere from the Black Forest region displays all the whimsical and naturalistic charm developed in that area over the past several centuries. Carved to look like wood found in the forest, it rests on a tripod base and "trunk" that leads the eye up to the finely carved flower and greenery holder above. Carved onto the front are two lovebirds, surrounded in exquisite foliate detailing with fully laden grape clusters symbolizing fertility. Even the sides and back are carved in case one would be able to view it through a window!
