In France, romance has been revered for centuries. The elegant elements of design and style are reflected, and abound in, romantic antique bedroom furniture that has been skillfully designed and crafted by French artisans with impeccable reverence to quality and grace. The romantic era of the second half of the 19th century was a period that produced grand productions of superb antique French furniture with the beauty that surrounded the legendary and especially elegant, neoclassical Louis XVI style. This particular antique bedroom set is full of the romantic charm of the French boudoir, and is a paradigm of elegance and simplicity that is so often the Essence of French Style!
Rendered from select French walnut in the classical style that so enamored Louis XVI, this four piece bedroom set is a remarkable example of French antique furniture in perfect condition and completely intact! The stately antique armoire boasts its original beveled mirrors flanked by banded wheat corner posts and framed by a fluted apron below and a bonnet en arbalette on top, which has been lavished with Greek coin motif and a stunning ribbon and floral cartouche. Pomegranate finials, acanthus rosettes, and foliate corbels complete the look. The bed, whose headboard mimics the armoire’s crown, sports a complementary footboard embellished with musical instruments, with floral garlands, Greek coin and banded wheat trim all around. Our expert in-house customization staff has adapted it to fit a modern Queen size mattress! The round nightstand features complementary carvings, a pierced lower shelf, nicely sized cabinet and drawer, and a sumptuous marble top that was cut from the same slab as the marble on the matching dresser, the final piece de resistance of this wonderful set. Spacious drawers, a pair of cabinets even a full width jewelry drawer under the oval original beveled oval mirror all add together to create luxurious functionality, while the cast bronze original hardware completes the look. Circa 1880s.
