Antique Wine Accessories & Giveaway

Antique Letter EngravingThe art of wine making has been revered by countless civilizations.  In ancient mythology the subject was so worshiped that Bacchus, the god of wine and frivolity was created by grateful Romans and Greeks who were enamored by the elixirs that only the gods could have bestowed upon us. Today we do not build antique alters to the deity of libation, but instead erect wine rooms, caves and sellers to house and display prestigious vintages of precious grape harvests.

On our antique buying trips we always scour the European countryside to find antique and vintage wine accessories created by winemakers ~ sometimes many decades and even centuries ago. These vineyard relics are truly cultural affects of a proud industry steeped in grand traditions, and they bring instant ambiance to our kitchens, wine rooms and cellars.  We were so thrilled to have vast quantities of these desirable items in our last to container to Baton Rouge, and even more arriving soon to our stores in Dallas and Plano.

And now as promised…the Giveaway.  To go with our wine themed topic we have a charming antique wicker-covered bonbonne.  It didn’t take long for glassmakers to realize that their carefully made hand-blown creations were inordinately fragile.  Some clever person came up with the idea of wrapping the bottles with wet wicker, that when dried clung to the bottles like a second skin, providing a lot more durability during transport.   Each is one of a kind, adding a great vineyard flair and rustic country texture to any interior!

Well I don’t use Facebook and have so little time for things like Pinterest, so I will have to be satisfied with one entry and that’s ok! Yesterday I bought some small items from your webstore and I can’t wait to receive them, and I’m so glad I found your site! I have a few small wicker covered bottles, I love them all, and so this one would likely be displayed along with the others in a window. I have some small Edwardian wicker covered picnic jars from England and taller covered bottles too, and this one would make a fabulous backdrop. Nothing very creative I’m afraid, but this lovely bottle would be in a place where I could see it every day and that in itself would bring a smile.

      Good luck!

I would give it to my Mother-in-Law. She has a beautiful house and all the family would get to enjoy it at her home. We have many family get-togethers at their home…so the whole family would like it there. Plus it would fit in really well with their decor!!!

I would display it in my Foyer, it has slate flooring and the wicker bottle would look lovely next to my cushioned bench among the bronzed floor candle sticks. I actually have dark red candles that I light nightly, I think it would be perfect for that space.

Darn! I just missed the deadline! I am working on a documentary on wines in America, especially the early 1800s in Indiana where the first successful commercial wines in America were available. And guess what would make an excellent prop when I get around to the reenactment segments?

      Hello Martin,
You’re in luck! We’ve actually extended the deadline due to comment issues this weekend. So feel free to complete the other options to increase your chances.
