Hand-crafted with what are today considered crude tools, this stunning bibliotheque showcases the Regence style, with a flamboyant acanthus plume serving as the cartouche atop the regally molded crown accented with dentil molding. Fluted pilasters flank the bowfront upper glazing, with the same bowfront contour repeated below but stepped out to provide a modicum of surface to use. The glazing is separated into panes by muntions, and also appears on the sides of the upper tier allowing natural light to permeate the interior, showcasing your prized possessions and family heirlooms. Pilasters are also mirrored below, and flank two graciously carved door cabinets each with timeless torchere & carquois de flèches motifs intertwined amongst ribbon, floral and basket motifs all in bas relief. Egg & dart trim and fine molded detail on all sides completes the look. Created from dense, old-growth French white oak to last for centuries, it has no stain or finish for a wonderful natural effect!
Circa 1780s.
Measures 92 x 47 x 19.
