Location: Baton Rouge

This stunning Buffet a Deux Corps from the laster artisans of Provence was hand-crafted by what are today considered rudimentary tools out of select French walnut!  Simplistic lines are enhanced by the subtle double arched scrollwork at the top of the upper doors, with a subtle molding surrounding the lower doors.  Full length steel barrel hinges mount all the doors, and each is also fitted with elaborately forged steel keyguards.  The boldly scrolled apron is centered with a scallop shell motif and olive brances, and scrolled legs with escargot feet complete the look.
Circa 1780s.
Measures 98 x 51 x 25.
