An elegantly ingenious answer to three important requirements, the French china buffet has endured as a most desirable acquisition by those in the know. This particular example, rendered from fine French walnut in the manner of Louis XVI boasts nine glazed panes for display flanked by two crystal cabinets carved with floral and foliate motifs, all directly underneath the arched crown fitted with a lavishly carved cartouche. The generous serving surface is flanked by tapered & fluted pedestal supports, leading the eye down to the main buffet below, which will easily accommodate a host of china, flatware and serving pieces. Detailed molding provides an apt framework. The painted finish provides a light, pleasing visual effect, perfect for the Paris Country or "shabby chic" look.
Circa 1890s.
