Completely hand-crafted by talented artisans in Northern Europe emulating the styles established by the court of Louis XVI, armoires such as this splendid example are getting harder and harder to find each year! This artifact was sculpted exclusively from dense, old-growth white oak, the preferred material in the northern climes. Fine molded detail, raised & recessed panels, and carvings of floral baskets, laurel wreaths, ribbons, and floral sprays adorn the panels. Doors open wide thanks to the external barrel hinges, making this an excellent choice for an entertainment center. Fluted cornerposts frame the doors, and the entire work is crowned with complex molding comprised of egg & dart mated with dentil, all accentuated with rosettes.
Circa 1780s.
Measures 86.5H x 79.5W x 26.5D.
