A definitive example of the middle 18th century craftsmanship from Brittany, this antique armoire is certainly worthy of close examination! Carving with motifs inspired by the Renaissance, the artisans adorned the crown, cornerposts, base, door panels and framework to create a lively facade that reflects the region's penchant for celebrating their good fortune in being, well, from country side of Brittany, France! As is typical of the genre, male and female figures are depicted in the panels, the reason for which has been lost to history, yet makes us wonder about their significance. Doors open wide via outboard steel hinges to reveal cavernous storage. You can use the interior of this relic in a variety of ways, just like it was intended.
