18th Century French Period Painted and Gilded Carrera Marble Top Table. The elegant details on this Louis XV style French table have been highlighted by the hand-applied antique gilding and original painted detailing by the artisan over 260 years ago. The sensuous flow of the fluid design of Rococo style is evident in every element of this charming piece from the four cabriole legs that blend seamlessly into the carved apron as well as the shaped profile of the Carrera beveled marble table top, to the timelessly sculpted escargot feet. All of these aspects embody the period style that developed during the reign of King Louis XV in France (1723-1774).
The splendid combination of the aged painted finish and the contrast with the soft silvery gold leaf accent makes for a very decorative and desirable table, that was discovered in Paris on one of our many exhaustive buying trips to the Continent.
