Location: Baton Rouge
Beautifully crafted in Paris from fine solid French walnut, this stately grand armoire features definitive Louis XVI styling from the arched, step-front crown to the fluted and tapered legs below. A variety of moldings and borders were employed, including two variations of egg & dart, Greek coin, and beading, framed by multi-tiered trim. Cascading florals that appear to be intertwined and held aloft by flowing ribbon appear on each side cabinet, flanked by laurel sprays on the mitered corners, and in turn providing a framework for the full length beveled mirror at the center. Complementary motifs on the drawer tier below, punctuated by acanthus rosettes and cast brass pulls, complete the look.
