Hand-crafted in 19th century from exotic imported mahogany this Louis XVI buffet, then inlaid with burl walnut, satinwood, olive wood and sycamore in exquisite renderings of baskets suspended by flowing ribbon and bursting with fruit and foliates, it represents the epitome of the art of the ebenistes of Paris. Radial patterns on the center door are incredibly complex to render, especially when trimmed by three layers of fine inlay bordering. Cast bronze dore ormolu mounts add an elegant touch, as does the contoured and beveled marble top.
