This entrhalling scene depicting an 18th century Dutch family room has been superbly illustrated by artist G. Kraajen. Note the prominence of the fireplace hearth in the room, plus the generous use of windows for natural lighting, and heavy curtains to keep out winter's chilly wind. The family life seems so close and endearing, just like the new family of kittens in the basket in the background.
