Location: Dallas

Hand-crafted from select French walnut during the final throes of the Bourbon Kings, this pannetiere was designed to protect the bread baked in the morning through to the evening meal. Turned spindles in a spool design surround the three facing sides, centered with a door fashioned in a lyre shape, in obvious deference to the family's musical preferences. The classic crown design was ubiquitous in this period, being used for the vast majority of case pieces from commodes to armoires until the dawning of the Second Empire.
Circa 1840.
