21H x 16 in diameter

Location: Dallas

Designed to transport large quantities of wine from the cellars to the homes of the vintner himself or his friends, bonbonnes were a cheaper container than the miniature kegs, although considerably more fragile. The green tint was said to help keep the wine protected from too much light. A cork wrapped in gauze or cheesecloth was used as a stopper.
Circa 1880s.
