Pair Antique Bronze-Mounted Trophy Horns
2103-1174
(Click the Item No. for an inquiry)13 x 10 x 4

Location : Dallas

During the 18th and 19th centuries in Europe it was popular to display hunting trophies as table or desktop ornamentation, rather than via taxidermy which is more prevalent today. This pair of horns have been mounted on finely cast bronze in a masculine rendition of the Art Nouveau style which makes them easy to date. Lion's paw feet on the quatrepod base merges into a foliate and stem shaft with a cradle for the horns similar to a railtop cannon mount. Acanthus-veined fleurs-de-lys motif on the crown rim adds a nice touch.
Circa 1890's.
Each measures 13 x 10 x 4.
