In past centuries, the fireplace was the center focal area of the room, providing a source of light, heat, a place to cook meals, and a place to relax after the meal to reminisce. This pair, forged from solid iron by the village blacksmith, show cupholder devices on top to hold vessels to keep liquids warm, as well as brackets upon which transverse rods would be set to varying heights according to how much heat to which the pots hung therefrom would be exposed. Ingenious, functional, and attractive. What more could you ask?
