Truly an unusual find, this pair of bergeres is only part of a complete salon set we discovered near Genoa. Hand-carved with a variety of classical motifs including floral sprays, spiral ribbon, and acanthus plumes & rosettes, each is set upon four tapered & fluted legs creating a contrast to the rounded barrel shape of the armrest/seatback affair. Painted finish has achieved a lovely patina over the decades, enhanced by the gold highlighting.
